5 Quotes About Owning Your Own Business That Are Absolutely Relatable

There is a lot to say about the experience of owning your own business. Entrepreneurs generally lead careers that are inconstant and risky, but are potentially very financially rewarding. However, they don’t often get much academic scrutiny because they aren’t considered to be professionals in the same degree or complexity as doctors or lawyers. But what many people don’t understand is that there are a great deal of nuances and complex skills that are required of top entrepreneurs that are just as specialized as any other professional’s.

Topping this list of very specific skills, are interpersonal communication, financial and economic fluency, and calculated risk taking. The ability to do all three of these instantly, perfectly, and repeatedly is not something that just anyone can do and they take years of experience to develop. Schools do not award degrees that certify someone as an entrepreneur but entrepreneurs can be just as important to the economy as other professionals. Private business owners provide jobs and economic growth for their communities and their presence and prosperity are the driving force of the American economy. The below quotes demonstrate what it is that drives these individuals to strike out on their own and take on the risks and the rewards of independent ownership.

1: “There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell

Money is a means to an end. It may be an integral mean but it is still by itself not worth the journey and not what gives the experience its meaning. What truly gives any business its vitality, is the vision of its owner to create something new and beneficial to society.

3: “The most dangerous poison is the feeling of achievement. The antidote is to every evening think about what can be done better tomorrow.” – Ingvar Komprad

4: “The only thing worse than starting something and failing… is not starting anything.” – Seth Godin

5: “In the end, a vision without the ability to execute it is probably a hallucination.” – Steve Case

Business start-ups require both a great idea and a well-managed implementation process in order to be successful. This quote is relatable because it explains why a great many start-ups have failed. A business idea is only as real as the extent to which it can be successfully implemented in the real world. Given limitation of time, money, and technology, some idea just are not feasible.
