How to End Workplace Negativity 

A flower will grow with water and sunshine. Nowhere is this more evident than in the workplace. Give your employees good soil to keep them reaching toward the sun. Here's how to end workplace negativity. 

  1.  Award responsible actions with responsibility. If an employee shows that she can handle responsibility, praise her and give her responsibility as part of her role. 
  1.  Give your employees direction and information about where the company is headed and what their place in it will be. If you see an employee who could grow into a larger role, outline how he can make it happen. Training may be involved to grow this employee into a higher role. Think of this as some rain. 
  1. Don’t tolerate drama. Be up front with your co-workers so that they know that drama will not be allowed. Think of this as some good topsoil.
  1. If an employee is not cutting it, outline a performance improvement plan for him. This outlines clear and measurable goals allowing you to rate his progress at regular intervals.
  1. When a worker is exemplary, praise her. Make it known that she is rocking it. Think of this as the sunshine.
