October 2, 2013. Individuals attempting to access the federally run health care exchanges, healthcare.gov, were unable to access the website for most of the roll-out day. Technical issues and visitors overwhelmed the site, with about 2.8 million visitors. The deadline for enrollment for coverage beginning January 1 is December 15. The Administration has its work cut out for it to resolve the technical issues plaguing the site. In 2015, Iowa has indicated the system will be fully state-run. Nebraska and South Dakota are also partnering with the federal government to host their exchanges.
