Construction firm Katerra Inc., and over 30 of its affiliated entities filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on Sunday, June 6, 2021. Katerra Inc. listed estimated liabilities of $1 billion to $10 billion and assets of $500 million to $1 billion. The company said in a separate statement it has secured $35 million of debtor-in-possession financing from an arm of SoftBank, a lifeline to continue operations during the bankruptcy process, which financing is subject to court approval.
