June 13, 2014. The USDA recently announced the awarding of $22.5 million in loans and grants for organizations in nine states. This funding was provided through USDA’s Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) program and is intended to fund projects that create and retain employment in rural areas. Through REDLG funding is provided to local utilities who then disburse those funds to eligible local companies and organizations.
