In Iowa, a farm lease must be terminated by the landlord or tenant on or before September 1st or the farm lease will automatically renew the following year. This includes oral agreements or arrangements where the terms are not in writing. If you are a tenant who wants out of a lease or a landlord thinking of selling, changing tenants or raising the rent for the 2022 crop year, you must serve your termination on or before September 1, 2021.
