4 Things You Should Know Before Going to Court -- PART III: A Good Attitude Goes a Long Way

A couple of weeks have slipped by (time flies when you’re having fun) since I posted Part II of this 4-part series of blog posts discussing some things you should know before going to court.  This week, I’m moving on to Part III, A GOOD ATTITUDE GOES A LONG WAY.

As a party or witness, your attitude can really impact the case.  After all, judges and juries have to make a lot of “close calls.”  If you appear positive, professional, respectful and calm, you are more likely to be liked (and, perhaps more importantly, believed) by the judge or jury.  If you come across as a negative, arrogant, rude or disrespectful person, you are more likely to be disliked and your testimony will be less well-received than you might have anticipated, to the point where your testimony might be discredited unfairly.  Sure, this might seem like common sense.  That’s because it is.  However, common sense seems to slip by the wayside from time to time, so any party or third-party witness preparing for court should remember this simple concept – a good attitude goes a long way.
