Goosmann Law Firm, PLC Attorney Anthony Osborn will be presenting an “Overview of Iowa Mechanics’ Lien Laws” at the Home Builders Association of Greater Siouxland general membership meeting on October 18, 2012. Osborn will discuss the process for filing liens and foreclosing on liens and will highlight important differences between Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota construction lien laws. He will also outline some practical considerations which should be evaluated when a general contractor, subcontractor or other construction professional is deciding whether it can and/or should file a lien. In addition, Osborn will discuss recent Iowa legislation which changes the process for the recording of certain mechanics’ liens.
