President Obama is likely to propose new notification requirements for companies who are hacked. The proposal, which you can read more about here, is expected to be unveiled at the State of the Union address. It will require companies who are hacked to provide notice within 30 days to anyone who’s private and personally identifiable data is compromised. Is your company ready to issue the required notices to affected employees, customers, or patients within 30 days of a hack? If the new proposal by Obama passes, your company could face fines for each day it fails to issue the required notice.
