August 23, 2013. Which comes first, the business or expansion investment? It is a careful balance that should be part of a larger strategic plan. Expansion requires a calculated risk with an entrepreneurial spirit. At Goosmann Law Firm I am currently expanding our building on the second and third floor, working with our architects, opening our branch offices in Dakota Dunes and Sioux Falls. While these are part of our strategic plan and necessary to accommodate our business growth there is always a level of anxiety that goes with signing the contracts. Deciding to expand is good business when you know it is part of a long term vision and strategic plan that is supported by your business history. Signing well negotiated leases with good terms, working with your experts such as your CPA, commercial banker, architect, and lawyer can help guide you through your expansion goals.
