National Cooperative Month is upon us and it provides an opportunity to recognize the critical contributions that the Cooperative system provides to America’s Ag economy. Coinciding with the start of National Cooperative Month, U.S. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsak has announced that the nation's farmer, rancher and fishery cooperatives set a new sales record in 2013. Ag cooperatives, during the calendar year 2013, had a total business volume of more than $246 billion.

The record numbers in 2013 continue an impressive streak of growth dating back three years. This includes the fact that the past three years have seen record figures regarding Ag Co-op productivity and growth. With National Cooperative Month we are presented with a great opportunity to learn more about the importance of the Cooperative system to our Ag economy.
